Nice! Seems like they have modernized all their code! Awesome.

Great. Thanks for pointing out. I was looking about a year ago and sad to see that the 6Dii wasn’t supported. Now it is

Forgive my ignorance, but was is Magic Lantern? My memory of Magic Lantern was US government spyware installed on computers.

Its an open source firmware for some canon cameras that provides a lot of cool features.

So I have a Canon R7, would there be an advantage in this firmware ?

There would be, but the R series is not supported. Here is the list https://builds.magiclantern.fm/

ML on a T3i/600D was the best 0$ I ever spent on camera stuff. The feature set brought it to par with newer canons costing $500 more.

Well, at least I’m not tempted to try. My T8i / 850D isn’t supported.

If you are reading this Magic Lantern folks, welcome back! I had so much fun extending the 550D, making an entry camera ahead of the curve at least for a while. Certainly scratched my computational and data-informed photography itch.

whoa very good news! mlv raw video with dual iso if i read this correctly? i need to update the vkdt importer…

Nice! Looks like I need to get my 5dmkii from the drawer

Oh this is excellent news.
I chose a 5D2 over a new bells and whistles model specifically for the features Magic Lantern unlocks - focus peaking, exposure zebras, magic zoom and trap focus (turns a manual focus lens into an auto focus lens, of sorts). Noise reduction with dual iso is a bit of a faff but good to know its there should the scene require it. In camera intervalometer, focus stacking… on and on it goes and I havent even mentioned video.
Many thanks to @names_are_hard and team past and present, very much appreciated.
