I have 2 related questions about masks. (dt4.6)
The module i am using is RGB primaries.
First: How do i completely “reset” a module so it doesnt remember my settings inside a mask? Right now, if i go into a mask and select “drawn mask” and draw a nice little spline, or use the circle and shrink the circle…this stays, even if i click the (i) at the top of the module to reset it.
Second – how do I inverse my selection? I (vaguely?) remember being able to draw a spline around an object, selecting “invert selection” and everything would swap.
Now, that “inverse” is gone, and all I see is the polarity (+/-) on the far right. This does not seem to do the same thing, and then i go and mess with opacity, and then i wind up messing it up, and then I wind back up in problem #1! How do i unbugger mask settings.
You can reset the mask/module setting independently… I’ll add the screen shot but it is in the manual and easy to find. Same with inverse… on my phone now. Mousing over should also confirm it for you…
Hi Jake, I don’t seem to be able to reproduce your problems here. If I use a drawn mask and click on the i at the top the module resets with no mask showing. As for inverse, I believe you are referring to the option which is only available if a parametric mask is included
Change the plus minus and it should invert the drawn mask… depending on the inclusive and exclusive settings you may get different results if you have that mask combined with a parametric mask…
I was looking back and came across a little exercise I did in an exchange with @Bruce_Williams a few years back… no invoking of the mask manager here just combined masks… Combined Mask Breakdown.pdf (2.3 MB)
Perhaps it was the parametic mask i had been looking at!
And I went back to the image that had been giving me problems, and …its fine. It was the retouch tool, and when i pull it up the size is back to default and everything. 4.6 fix? Cache clearing during update? Carbon based error!
If i manage to reproduce it or articulate my problem better, I will come back and share.
Well I am glad it is all working now. Based on your wording in the original post I suspect you had been used a drawn and parametric mask or a parametric mask at the time.
