I suspect that there is a lot of yellow/red dust in the air - so have used both colour correction and graduated density to try to move the sky towards blue.

It isn’t?
IMO it looks merely arid rather than an out-and-out desert (i.e., Atacama) with sand dunes, playa, etc. However, it’s apparently Mediterranean.
