Some time ago, I was asking a similar question, for increasing the max from 32 to 64, and it was gently accepted and implemented.
I got the impression that the change was simple enough not to cause an hard work, hence -because of some experiments I’m doing now- it could be interesting to increase the max again, now up to 256.
Am I asking something harder? If not, could it be implemented?
