I’m exploring digiKam to manage my image collection and I have a couple of questions…
maybe someone can help out.
I want to use Dublin Core as metadata schema. I guess the DC fields will be stored in XMP but I can’t find where to write some properties. For instance, I configured digikam to activate coverage and contributor (actually all the fields are activated) but can’t find the place to write the values… I can write and view Creator, Descriptionm Rights, Source, Subject, Title and Type but Can’t figure where are Contributor, Coverage, Identifier, etc.
is there a way to export a list-table of all files and metadata so that I can later open in OpenRefine or Excel?
I’m not sure what you mean by “activating” metadata fields…
You can only edit metadata fields which are presented in the interface, decided upon by the developers. Afaik, there’s no way in digikam to add metadata outside the provided fields. Nor do I know of a way to get those data stored in the database (*).
Nor can you create a “list-table” of all files and metadata from within digikam. You may have better luck with an external program, depending on what kind of output you expect.
I don’t know the schema for digikam’s database, but the metadata you want are probably scattered over a number of tables (any field that can appear more than once will have its own table, for instance). So creating a single table from that isn’t trivial.
(*: the database is the official storage for metadata, and the XMP is basically an interchange or backup device, the xmp file is not directly modified from the GUI. )
