I love the light and atmosphere here. Not so happy with the framing - my excuse is that it was shot from a moving vehicle… Near Cathcart, NSW, Australia.
As always, I’d love to see different takes on this! P3220070.ORF (13.5 MB) P3220070.ORF.xmp (14.7 KB)
A great photograph! My play in GIMP. Local adjustments to brightness, contrast and saturation to emphasise the mistiness and the colours in the sky, but mainly cropped to create a more panoramic aspect.
Beautiful shot, car window or no! I love the “layer cake”, with the four areas of dark to light and dull to bright, bottom to top.
My challenge was to bring up the foreground a bit and add some chroma to the mist, while keeping it (hopefully) realistic. I cropped off the bottom and top to even the composition a bit.
Excellent picture, I have the same camera. Here is my attempt. The issue I always have with these type of sunset shots: How much HDR tone mapping to apply.
Here is my take. I have come to like the Sigmoid module for sunrises and sunsets. I feel the module is more faithful to the colors of the sunset. I wanted to bring out the farm in my image so I used two instances of shadow highlights softened with the bilateral filter to minimise artefacts.
Just for fun ran @Ulrich_Gesing 's Initialworkflow script… It sets the tone eq mask so I pulled it up a bit… So basically zero interaction from me except the tone eq and you get this …
