Monitors with a built-in colorimeter

I don’t want to poison the Wayland thread more than I’ve already done, so I’ll post my questions about monitors with built-in colorimeters here.

@bastibe, via OSD controls, can you perform a “full characterization” or only a simpler one using limited patches for drift tracking and maintaining factory calibration? I believe one of the Eizo monitors I had at work showed only red, green and blue during characterization using the OSD.

The OSD calibration goes through a large number of samples. I didn’t count exactly; it seemed not quite as thorough as DisplayCAL, probably around 100 samples?

Silly side note: the colorimeter is not sealed well, so make sure to calibrate in a dark room with little stray light.

You can trigger the calibration through the Windows/macOS driver as well, which will additionally spit out a calibration result PDF. It otherwise functions the same, the display goes into a separate mode, and does its thing separate from the OS.

Thanks!
