Monochrome in Darktable with Selective Colour adjustments?

I am using DT as my primary editor and work in the scene referred toolset as much as possible.

I would like to convert raw files to monochrome but still have the ability to selectively adjust the brightness of individual colours in the image.

I thought I would be able to do this by setting Color Calibration to, say, B&W Luminance Based, then play with the Color Equaliser. But the Color Equaliser seems to have no effect.

What am I doing wrong?

thanks

If you use the monochrome module instead, you should be able to adjust using the color equalizer.

Create a second instance of Color Cal to do the B&W, and move it above the Color EQ module (later in the pipeline).

I tend to move the B&W step directly before the tone mapper (Filmic or Sigmoid).

As long as Color EQ comes before the BW conversion, it should work.

Boris has a really good series on BW conversion:

This should work, have a look here in the video by @nwinspeare where the pipeline management makes the difference
