Had a very pleasant morning happy snapping along the quayside. The place was buzzing with people enjoying the spring sunshine, good vibes all round.
Time to change rolls and… aww fiddlesticks.
Turns out I’d been firing blanks the whole time.
That’s another box ticked on the list of manual film camera gotchas.

Can relate. Once removed a complete roll only to find the words ‘black and white’ printed on the side of the canister! Such scenery will never have colour… Oh well, at least I got something!

My favorite mistake was finding out that I’d loaded some expired film incorrectly and tore through the sprocket holes… Realizing that after exposure 24 I was still able to wind frames.
I recently realised midway through a second roll in a new old (1950s) camera that I hadn’t locked the rewind crank because I made some assumptions about how to do that on this model. The film suddenly wouldn’t wind on. I’m now wondering whether both rolls are screwed.
