I went for a walk yesterday and took some photos. Two young red-backed shrikes were perched in a bush, waiting to be fed by their parents. I got very close to the birds, but the shooting conditions were still difficult because branches were in the line of sight, and it was quite dark in the shade. Only a few small areas were hit by direct sunlight. But it often fell where I couldn’t use it. Here’s a shot of the adult female with a chick. Minimal settings in darktable, just increased EV +1.85.
I’m very pleased that, thanks to darktable, I was able to achieve this final result. I like the picture-like look.
