I’m having trouble mounting my camera in DarkTable (3.6.0) on Windows 10.
When I connect the camera via USB, I’m given the option to “mount camera” in DarkTable. When I click the button, however, I get an error message:
failed to initialize '[CAMERA]' on port 'usb:[#]', likely causes are: locked by another application, no access to devices, etc.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
uninstalling the Canon EOS Utility software I previously used to connect to the camera
connecting different cameras (same basic error message for every device)
connecting to different USB ports (no change in error message except USB port number)
disabling automount in Windows 10 DiskPart
I can’t seem to get it to work and Googling isn’t turning up much help. Does anyone have any ideas?
You can read about it here: faq | darktable
But you’re probably better off just taking out the card and plugging it into your computer.

There is a suggested USB driver in the build instructions for WIndows…maybe this is really necessary ??

Could you try to unmount the drive on windows to let dt mount it itself?
Do you still get the error message?

This is the suggested driver
“Also use this program to install USB driver on Windows for your camera: http://zadig.akeo.ie/ When you run it, replace current Windows camera driver with WinUSB driver”"
From the Windows build instructions
