need to install Darktable 3.6.0 version

Hello! I need a 3.6.0 version of Darktable on my windows laptop as I am used to this version on another windows computer and newer versions have worse cropping/transformation features.

When I download an exe file from some websites which offer the old version it doesn’t go beyond installation. I install it on my laptop but when I click on it the black screen appears for a second and then disappears. What is the solution to it. I really need this exact version of the program for my windows laptop

What why? You can get it here: Release darktable 3.6.1 released · darktable-org/darktable · GitHub directly from the project.

There is no way we can support versions from some random website. You should probably make a backup of your data now and run some virus scans.

Hi @Ania_R , your question has already been answered but I am interested in why the cropping/transformation features are better in DT 3.6. It is unusual that a feature is not improved in a later version and maybe a feature request would be appropriate. So please do share your experience.

When it disappears like that it’s often the antivirus in Windows killing it and by the sound of it for good reason…

Now deleted the previous downloads and downloaded it from your link. Still the same thing. It says that the downloading is completed but when I click on it the small black window appears and then disappears in a second. Don’t even have time to make a screenshot for you to see :frowning:

In 3.6 version I could crop/rotate/choose my crop preset under one tab. It is quicker to edit this way.

You can use/create an style instead of a preset. It allows you to apply crop and rotate modules with your preferences.

What versión of windows?

I think you should try to open dt via the command line to see what the black screen is saying.

@Ania_R I presume you are talking about the crop and rotate module which is now deleted. I don’t remember working with it, but I wonder if I can recover it in the latest DT version if you supply an image and xmp file where it has been activated using 3.6.

I’m wondering if you are aware of the function introduced in dt v.4.4:

" A global right-click-and-drag operation has been added to allow image rotation to be corrected without first opening the rotate and perspective module. This operation can be used as long as the currently-focused module does not already use that shortcut for another purpose."
