Wow, all the images posted so far are better than mine in different ways. That’s really useful for me to see where it can be taken. Cool
Some great interpretations!
My play. A blend of 6 images (0 to +5EV) in enfuse, then into GIMP. Used my luminosity mask plug-in to adjust contrast in the darkest area, emphasised the reflections of the wet pavement and slightly darkened the brightest parts.

Hi Tony,
Love your capture, especially the way the line wraps around the building with the storefront’s light gently falling off in the faces of those in the queue.
Here’s my take on the tungsten film look + XMP w/ Darktable 4.4.1:

I find the photography of Greg Girard highly inspirational when it comes to night photography, as well as films like Michael Mann’s Heat (1995; DP Dante Spinotti) and David Fincher’s The Game (1997; DP Harris Savides).
Good luck tungsten hunting!
Great. Thanks for the suggestions. I absolutely love both those films. I even love Miami Vice and Collateral with their intentionally noisy digital looks
I’ve just looked on Greg Girard’s insta and realised I’ve got his City of Darkness book on the Kowloon Walled City. Thanks for the tip. I didn’t know about his other work. Fantastic
Just rewatched Collateral the other night (still incredible); can’t wait to revisit Miami Vice! And I’m envious you’ve got one of Greg’s books! Love the way he uses cyan and magenta casts in his night compositions—often looks otherworldly.
I got it partly because I lived in HK for a while after the walled city was razed and it was such a mesmerising idea. I’m going to look through the photos again today with your observations in mind. Thanks

My attempt with darktable, inspired by the thread about Liam Wong:

It turned out to be much more difficult than I first thought…
