Nikon Z8 nef files can't be read and DNG files result in washed out result

I’m a new user to Siril and have version 1.2.0. I used my Nikon Z8 camera to take a series of 40 shots of the moon in raw format and tried to use them in Siril. The first problem was that the files appeared totally corrupted when importing them. I then used Lightroom to convert the nef files to dng files. Those were imported into Siril without a problem. I was able to convert them, register them, and stack them. I then used the script to remove the green color, but the resulting image was all washed out. What did I do wrong? Thanks… Jeff

Welcome!

Are you by any chance shooting in the new HE/HE* raw compression mode? Those are AFAIK not supported by any open source software yet, only the traditional lossless is.

My raw recording is set to “High Efficiency *” rather than “Lossless Compression”. I will turn that off and try again.

Also, I did another test with the DNG files and was able to recover the detail in the photo so it was not washed out, using the Histogram Transformation feature.

Thanks for your reply!
