Office building at night, London

An office building at night, London, Ricoh GR IIIX, darktable. I like the geometrical shapes and pools of light and colour.

I’m new to darktable in its scene referred incarnation, though I used it a bit before that. The original image was poorly framed - I’ve cropped out the bottom and right and applied a mild perspective correction, and played with the levels, exposure compensation, and local contrast.

The white balance baffles me a bit - I used the “set white balance to detected from area” in “color calibration”. I haven’t touched “color balance rgb” or “rgb primaries”.

Fun, nice shot too. Standard scene referred workflow from me, generous crop, leaning heavily again on the tone and contrast equalizer.

Maybe try extending the light to the street from the window…

I think the initial version is hardly to top. So I just try to offer something different:

Oops I overexposed my Cinestill 800T! With darktable and custom film sim.

Thank you for the play. With ART, GIMP and G’MIC:

I think the original is excellent, so time to do something silly!
Also a chance to see how GIMP (and my plug-ins) behave after it’s upgrade to 2.10.38.

I like the crop, and overexposed night time shots might be a new genre - I’ll have to try a few.

I think that’s a nice way to calm down the edges of the frame, rather than just cropping or darkening.

Fun shot to play with. I liked the geometry of the image and the vibrant colors contrasting with the dark shadows. Nice capture.

It actually works quite well in black and white, I think.
