OpenCL no longer

Asus Zenbook core i7 with Intel Iris plus graphics G7, 16Gbyts memory linux Mint 22.1. Has been happily running OpenCL in DT for 5+ years, currently on 5.1.0~git726.28904317-1+12769.1 (installed .deb from https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=graphics:darktable:master&package=darktable). Recently I noticed that processing images seemed to be taking a bit longer than usual. I checked in preferences and OpenCL is now not available. I’ve no idea when the problem began…it could be some months ago…maybe with upgrading to Mint 22.1, or maybe not, I can’t say. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Out of curiosity I put DT 5.1 on my old semi-retired core i5 (Skylake) integrated graphics zenbook running Mint 22.1, OpenCL installed, and again no OpenCL in DT.

It fails to compile. This seems to be a driver issue with your OS.

Remove the kernels from your user cache and let it try again.

YES! Thankyou for finding that. Worked perfectly on the i7. Github page now bookmarked in case of a repeat.

For info: Exporting a developed file without openCL took about 7-8 seconds. With openCL (default scheduling) approx 3 sec.

Someone should report this upstream.

Annoyingly, this problem has recurred , but this time the above fix doesn’t work. Any suggestions gratefully received (again).

That compilation failure usually means a driver error, as far as I know (the compiler comes with the video card driver). I could be wrong.

I would if I knew how and where…here, maybe?
