Gimp 2.10.22
portsmouth.sunset-1.pp3 (21.5 KB) RawTherapee 5.8 Development + New tool from another branch.
Test edit using a possible new, but still in development, future Local Adjustments tool. Emphasis was more on how it acts with all the other tools and where and when to use it effectively.
EDIT: Fixed an issue in the extreme highlights.
GIMP - changes in various regions of brightness using luminosity masks.
A beautiful photo so I have tried to be restrained!
It’s been a bit of work, but it’s a great photo. Thanks for the opportunity.
Save the highlights, increase chromaticism with multiply mode, adjust sky and water luminosity and balance color.
Cheers
With Filmulator, I tried to preserve the highlight hues as best as possible.
- Highlight Recovery 2
- Exposure Comp -5/6
- Drama 100
- White Clipping Point 0.547
- Shadow Brightness 221
- Highlight Brightness 1000
i really like your playraw series. it’s very technical. this one: debug softness and colour of highlight reconstruction
this is the vkdt rendition (using some multi-scale inpainting for colours)
cropped to the important region, a bit of local laplacian highlight compression. the yellow may be a bit outside srgb, at least the rendition through colour management is a lot smoother and more subtle than the srgb export viewed on my non-managed firefox.

Glad you appreciate this! Hope these images can help those who are working on image processing.
Wow.
On import in DT, there was a horrible greenish cast. DT tends, to magenta.

Don’t oversaturate. Maybe still too greenish? hmmm…
I combined these two layers in GIMP to improve the contrast in the upper half:
