Panasonic cameras and aspect ratios in samples provided

A question, if I may - there is a request for RAW files from Panasonic cameras in 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1 ratios. How is this accomplished, given that the G9 stores all RAW files in the 4:3 aspect ratio? Is cropping in post permitted?

What is this in reference to?

I guess they are requested to understand if/how the crop is represented in the metadata. Post crop is not meant I would guess.

It’s not only metadata crop (which can be the case for some camera brands/models), the actual sensor readout and the amount of pixels stored might change as well (again depending on brand/model).

Check out e.g. the Panasonic DMC-GX7 on RPU: the number of pixels changes, and so does the raw file size…

Of course - if your raw is always 4:3 (or full sensor readout, whatever that is), you can crop in post to your heart’s delight, no matter what the metadata says.

Where is this request?
