Hello,
I just bought a Lumix DC-S5D which is very very similar to DC-S5 but unfortunately I cannot edit raw files RW2 in darktable v5.0, I got the message “format not supported”. I tried to modify cameras.xml but without success, any suggestions ?
here the modifications in cameras.xml that I tried
I removed
supported=“unknown-no-samples”
from the line
I replaced model=“DC-S5” by model=“DC-S5D”
I believe/hope a minor modification can allow darktable to support my RW2 files.
The S5 is not supported, so the S5D is not either.
As a temporary (unsupported) workaround, you can try forcing loading via libraw instead of rawspeed, it works for S5, GH7, and G9M2. Details can be found on the forum or GitHub.
@kmilos I think you meant the S5ii isn’t supported. The S5 is including hi-res mode. Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to port (new job, home repair/improvements) the S5ii/GH7/G9ii raw decoder. Hopefully soon I’ll have time again.
I haven’t looked into the S5D, which I think excludes the charger the original S5 includes and adds the ability to use DJI Lidar. I can’t remember if that’s built-in or not. I haven’t looked into it since it won’t be available in the US anyway. So it shouldn’t be much different then the original.
Have you submitted a GitHub issue or uploaded samples to raw.pixls.us yet, which seems to be down for me? Maybe it also uses the new encoder. So it might be worth trying that work around to see, but I’d think it’d be same raw format as the S5.
A temporary work around for any unsupported camera is to use Adobes free DNG convertor, but keep the original RW2 files as well for the time when support is available in DT.
I tried to changed the cameras.xml file but the last change I got black image when I doubled click on it. Do you know I can modify this file in right way?
After modifying cameras.xml, you typically need to remove the failed imports from dt, then also remove their xmp sidecars from disk, and try importing afresh.
In any case, please open a camera support issue (and provide a link to CC0 licensed samples while RPU is down) so this could be addressed formally at some point.
