Panasonic Rawconverter

Hallo David,
what is this funny xmp? It is huge, 10x larger than others and DT does not accept them. I had her examined. There is a - not executable - HTML page with embedded JavaScript code. What is that good for?
micha

correction: your lensfun installation has no correction for his lens. Try running lensfun-update-data and check again.

my download gives me a proper xmp file.

I tried but I still don’t see it. Could also not find the lens here.
Am I to stupid :flushed: ?

Edit: Found the lens, but only manually. However, I can still get any correction for distortion.

I was asked to sign in. Also, no direkt download link appeared. Since I do not use dropbox any more, I found no way to download.

hallo darix,
witch xmp file was proper? This one from davidvj is realy big: it has 397 kB and and does not work. I do not want to provide this one, because there could be something wrong with ist, like virus etc. Since some hours you can not download them.

His requires a drop box login. sounds to me like he didnt share it with the public. maybe he could just upload it to this thread?

Hi Micha;
Not sure what is going on but it appears that thexmp file that I sent is not being used. For instance I used ‘perspective correction’ and that has obviously not been applied … so I must assume that none of the other settings have also been applied.

Sorry … don’t know what went wrong there … it looks clean on my system … must be something occurring with the Dropbox transfer.

MK_ISO3200.RW2.xmp (5.4 KB)

Is this looking better?

MK_ISO3200.RW2.xmp (5.4 KB)
Try this Micha …

Hallo David,
yes, this xmp works. And I could get it from you, without Dropbox. Thank you.
The result is very smooth. I think, I prefere less noisreduction and for me, the original jpg is still much better. I hope, we can finde settings in DT to develop a good picture.

heya, as promised a few minutes ago, here’s my take:
img_0001_02

as always the xmp is embedded in the jpg. did some profiled denoising but left more grain in it than the jpg you posted, with special attention to skin. hair kind of works too but has a fair bit of chromatic aberration.

i really like the vignetting of this lens, wouldn’t want to correct that away

i have to say i think i like @davidvj’s version with all the nice detail better, even though it’s noisy…

Hallo hanatos,
Thank you very much. I downloaded your jpg and then imported the xmp - worked well. The result is very good - better than all my attempts.
Then I used one more time the xmp from davidvj and got a very smooth jpg with destroyed skin tones. How can it be that you achieve good results with it? I’ll upload the jpg. I wonder why it gets so bad with me. DT 2.4.3 on Windows 10.

haha, reading the rest of the conversation now i think i’m referring to the version where the xmp failed and no denoising was applied at all  i guess as a monte carlo simulation person i’m just used to staring at noise a lot

the other version you just posted is a bit blotchy for my taste.
