Paying for search

I’m now trying a search engine called Kagi. They are a relatively small company, and the engine is subscription-based, with the promise of not selling your data to big tech. So far, I cannot complain about the results. I’ve already gone through the 100 searches included in the starter pack, and I’m now a paying customer ($10 / month for unlimited search.)

JFYI:

Yes I like their general product but not sure how many people like that yandex is involved.

Thanks! It wasn’t listed at Search Sources | Kagi's Docs.
Back to startpage.com (uses Google results, is anonymised).

Well it is weird that they didnt update the feedback site. so maybe kagi is ok again?

FWIW: qwant >>> startpage.

the other day i wanted to look up those new Zeiss lenses on startpage and like a full page on my tablet was just add links before i finally got down to the real link to Zeiss.

I use an ad blocker and have disabled ads on startpage. My problem is, I think it’s fair that I don’t take service for free, but I don’t want the ads, either.

I’ve been testing Kagi as well in the last few weeks. Some people seem to swear by it. There are a few neat features here, such as the option to individually promote/demote certain domains.

But otherwise, in terms of search results, I don’t see much benefit over my default, DuckDuckGo.
