From the documentation here: Colors — Siril 1.2.0 documentation

It states,“Since version 1.2, the two tools run independently: it is possible to run the photometric analysis and color correction of the image only if the image has been already plate solved. It also means different catalogues can be used for PCC and astrometry.”

Am I misunderstanding that? It sounds like PCC will fail if we don’t run the plate solve tool first when no astrometric data exists. However, if I enter the catalog number in PCC and click find, PCC does in fact work.

Astrometry must be done before photometry computation, but PCC does astrometry if needed.
If you do astrometry on astrometry.net for example, then PCC will skip astrometry part except if you force it.
