I decided to post this night time shot of Hiroshima taken with with my Canon G16 compact camera. Yes it has a little noise, but that doesn’t worry me and in my edit I have attempted to manage the noise back to an acceptable level.
@Terry I think your own edit is excellent. The only thing I don’t like is the lower darker part. Noise reduction was in my opinion to aggressive in this area.
The lawn looks more like mashed peas.
Gave it a shot…was hoping to get some more out of the grass but gave up and just threw a graduated density transition at it instead.
Image tweaked with Contrast eq, Color balance to try to focus the light effect, and tried to focus the light with the tone eq as well.
Now I am home with a decent size monitor I gave it another shot. I tried to minimise noise reduction especially in the grass. However, the grass was in deep shadow and there is minimal detail in that section of the picture, so short of enhancing noise in that section there is little that I could do to avoid the softness of the grass which in real life was a well manicured lawn.
Thanks for all the posts here. It is always interesting see how different people interpret images differently. Japan-0001_01.CR2.xmp (18.0 KB)
