Pentax lens not recognized

Hi, To the Darktable development team: thank you for resolving the Pentax K-3 III Monochrome crash that occurred when adjusting the detail threshold slider. Your work is greatly appreciated.

I am writing to report a persistent lens detection issue. While Darktable 5.4.0 successfully identifies the HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE, it consistently fails to recognize the HD PENTAX-DA★ 16-50mm F2.8 ED PLM AW.

I would appreciate it if the team could look into adding support for this specific lens profile in a future update.

Thanks

Hi, lens names and such are usually handled by exiv2 and lens fun for correction.

When you say “failed to recognize” what does that mean exactly?

Kindly refer to attached as shown in RED arrow.
Thanks

you need to help exiv2 to identify the correct name:

Ok thanks I’ll try it.

Ah, I should really put that somewhere more visible. Maybe the FAQ page or something.

Yes that would be great, it’s requested quite often from my perception.

I (or anybody) could add this lens to exiv2, but there is no timeline for the next release. Please feel free to use the exiv2.ini config file workaround in the meantime.

There might be more influencing this.
I use this lens (on another K-3 version) and dt does not have a problem recognizing it.

Hope this helps.

Could be a difference in exiv2 version: the Windows package the OP uses is stuck on older 0.27.7 unfortunately. This lens was indeed added in 0.28.4.
