Photometric Colour Calibration has me confounded, please help to troubleshoot.

If this was a consistent behaviour we would probably have been notified about it by many users. But since you’re with Windows, there is a random factor of the good will of microsoft and all other installed software: antivirus, firewalls and similar security systems, as siril is connecting to a remote website for this operation.

Agreed, thank you for your input Vincent. It seems as though this issue is peculiar to my OS/PC. I’ll try to trace it via Windows logs.

Cheers,
Tony

Could you try again with disabled “Using cache” option?

Hi, been wondering about this for a while, just joined the forums to ask (gotta break this up… max 4 links per post?)
I have also never successfully performed Photometric Color Calibration, I always get:
Screenshot from 2022-07-19 15-35-50
I’ve tried 4-5 times following these instructions.
I’m on linux version 1.0.3.
I have tried various things like making selections, changing magnitude limit and catalog, crazy guesses for focal length. I have not found a way to specify multiple “reference stars”, searching another star replaces the first one.

I am using this camera, this lens, and these settings.

Here’s the FIT file of my stacked lights that I want to color calibrate: wetransfer
Here’s my

35mm is really wide field. Therefore astrometry is not easy because field has distortion we can’t handle yet.

Hello,

I too am having problems getting the Photometric Color Calibration to plate solve an image. I have an image taken with a 50mm lens on a full frame DSLR camera. I tried all the suggestions on how to get to it plate solve, nothing works.

Is 50mm too wide to expect Siril to plate solve an image? I’ve given up trying to plate solve a image taken with a 14mm lens, that is very wide and it has complex distortions, but I was really hoping a simple 50mm would work.

What is the expected widest focal length that should be able to be plate solved?

The reason I want to use Photometric Color calibration is to get accurate colors of a star field. The normal color calibration doesn’t create correct colors for me.

I can share the 50mm image if anyone wants to try getting it to plate solve.

Thanks
Nick

No 50mm is not too wide. You should do it.
Try to select an object before platesolving.

Thank you for the reply lock042.

I tried what you suggested, and it did not work. I will reinstall Siril and see it that makes a difference. I have uploaded the result.fit file if you want to try yourself. (link below) The file size is 291,856,320 bytes.
The file has a bit of a blurred landscape on the bottom edge. I tried cropping it, but still it still did not plate solve. The star 45 Oph is almost in the center and that’s the object I selected before trying to plate solve. This was taken with a 50mm lens, 5.97um pixel pitch, all the photometric data looked OK.

Thanks,
Nick
