Pixls.us Home Page - Does it need changing?

Is this all on the hugo branch here? website/content/welove.md at hugo · pixlsus/website · GitHub

I can take a stab at it some time this week.

I like the new redesign!

since I needed something to test with the forgejo action … the hugo branch at pixlsus/website: The PIXLS.US website - Codeberg.org has a few more commits  also because @patdavid just tested if he likes it or not ^___^

Edit: @patdavid please push the changes from codeberg to github.

Oh and yes hugo upstream releases often:

While we wait … did you know … that you can load git configs depending on in which directory a git clone is?

I got it set up locally (I created a fork from the codeberg repo, not sure if that’s preferred over just cloning it directly).

One problem I did run into is related to the theme. After cloning @paperdigits theme I was getting this error:

ERROR TOCSS: failed to transform "/sass/main.scss" (text/x-scss): "C:\Users\jaraub\workspace\pixls-hugo\assets\sass\main.scss:7:1": File to import not found or unreadable: bootstrap.

His theme README does state to go into the assets directory and do a yarn install, but this wasn’t covered in the main project README.

Yes you need to yarn install in the theme.

All of the README and other docs need a refresh and update.

I am horrible about stopping my train of thought sometimes to make sure to document what on earth I’m doing.

I also should document my design ideas and how that relates to layouts in hugo. If I get a moment I’ll try to update the README for building the site with hugo and bootstrap.

back from my daily self torture aka workout.

btw: when you are hacking on a hugo site:

hugo serve -d public

is very very helpful. basically instant reload when changing something

Since I’ve freshly stepped through it, I can try to spruce up the README a bit as well.

BTW: everyone here in the tread who definitely wanted the page to be more active again you have now the choice to decide where and how we want to work. So dont be shy and vote in the poll above.

We will get back to you and ask you to contribute later

So taking part in the decision process might become important for you!

I love that we’re keeping up core Darktable traditions by making the first poll on improving accessibility incomprehensible to the uninitiated…

ok. New tradition instead of snarky comments you have to now provide better text for the poll (and an explanation/description) I will happily updated the poll post with it!

Thank you in advance.

Passive aggressive comment, meet snarky reply. You’ll get on well. (This is light-hearted ribbing, btw).

FWIW, I don’t understand it at all. I could participate if you added a don’t know option

It’s a British pastime after all.

Better than letting the Brits name things … although sometimes it is funny like Ctrl+Alt+Deleaf

Anyway, ignore my banter.

I don’t mind doing some editing at some point. It is my job. But after I’ve steeled myself to read enough to comprehend a balanced take on US sanctions over Cuba’s state-controlled export of medical labour, which I’ve been … putting off.

Can’t imagine why…

In American English, that’s Ctrl+Alt+Fall, isn’t it?

I haven’t forgotten about this, and there’s things I have been (slowly) working on and want to work on in the future. But with the impending SNAP benefit cuts here in the US I’m working on some local mutual aid food access stuff…

Ditto for me, tbh, I’m kinda busy at work, including setting up a conference, but I hope[1] to have some more breathing room after that.
