Plate solving failure with 16 good stars on FITS frame in comet processing

My camera focal length and pixel size are correct.
I have 16 stars identified and have the 3 catalogs local. (NOMAD)
Local Catalogs report 153 objects.

FOV is 2 degrees or so with the GT81/focal reducer

RA and DEC were stored OK from the FITS data read as the 678MC wrote it to ASIAIRPLUS MMC and come back as metadata.

RA/DEC agree with timestamp and ephemeris from COBS DB.

SIRIL ON WINDOWS LATEST VERSION

Astrometry.net works :frowning:

Sharing your image would make it easier for us to help you.
You can also use astrometry.net locally through Siril.

bkg_pp_light_00021.fit.gz (83.3 MB)

Apologeis for the giant upload.

I already have the astrometry Indexes downloaded where Siril can get to them, and yet I feel the integration isn’t via the UI.

Running the astrometry server on 8080, how do I “tell” Siril where to find it or must I break out of the flow and solve from the command line per this.

Using the flow here on Youtube and stuck at time index 10:00

New to using Siril but not to Astrometry or image processing.

Thanks

So, when I installed the 4 NOMAD/known/unknown stars DB locally the plate would NOT solve and there was NO button “Use local astrometry.net solver”

Just now I tried CTRL SHIFT A. NOMAD plate solve failed as before, but NOW there is a button and I’m trying to point to my local astrometry.net data.

ILL UPDATE LATER

Maybe success.

I think there needs to be a much clearer document section on how to setup astrometry.net to run as a local server in Siril and how to locate that “use local astrometry.net solver”

Still, the flow and Siril performing admirably thus far.

I tried your image with the dev version of Siril, 1.3.4 and at least, the platesolve worked well

Ill download it now :)!
Thanks

Hi, where is the “main” (dev) 1.3.4 version stored.
Thanks

It’ s documented there: Platesolving — Siril 1.2.4 documentation

In your previous snapshots, you were showing the Photometric Color Correction dialog. In this dialog, you can’t use astrometry.net because astrometry.net “only” performs plate solving but does not have a catalog with photometric data for the stars.

In dev version, we have separated the astrometric step (which uses either siril solver or astrometry.net solver) from the pcc step.

To build the dev version, you can follow those instructions:
https://siril.readthedocs.io/en/stable/installation/source.html#installation-from-source-code

I see and I figured out the floe in is great, but not exactly what I need.

I will use my work around until you ship the next version.

Many thanks
