[Play Raw] Planes, anyone?

I shot this one at an Air Show.

I like planes, right up there with trains…

I see the same sort of challenge I’ve faced wtih trains, nice detail lost in shadow because the subjects are so big you can’t move them around in the light  . So, I may have the math wrong, in rawproc I tried a poor-man’s tonemap by first adding -1.0 exposure compensation, then setting the black/white points. A bit of curve just to mess with it, then crop, resize, and sharpen.

Very nice examples shown. I must say that B/W does seem to suit that plane.

Here is a more interesting plane and composure, I think…

Rhymes too.

So sleek and beautiful!

I think the second photo is great as is. Here is my attempt for the first one.

Here is an attempt to isolate the main subject from the background distraction using the latest photoflow 20180821_1454 developed by @Carmelo_DrRaw.

The white one eating the dark one. Gluttony !

I’m more of a nose guy, but the fit and finish on the speed-plane is delicious.

Both in RawTherapee 5.4-dev

I would like to contribute a b&w version, too. I have tried to make it look like film
