Having trouble getting the image to ‘pop’. The sunlight on the branch was rather striking when i shot the picture, but I cant really get an image to do it justice in RawTherapee.

(This is my first Play Raw, I hope I did everything right)

That’s what I would o in darktable 2.7.

I would edit it like this in darktable to make the branch pop.

Think it has much to do with the harsh sunlight, you get more ‘pop’ in the morning or evening where you see finer contrast in the midtones
You have a good separation Form the background in the power left area where the background is dark.

Getting close to what i have in mind. I’ll have to poke around the PP3 when i get a chance.

In Filmulator, with:

Highlight Recovery 2
Exposure Comp +2.33
Drama 80
White Clipping Point 0.6776
Shadow Brightness 337.5

Heavy use of Shadows/Highlights module in RT helped me to get this.

ADDED a tweak using LAB module to enhance the effect a bit more.

If I know the species (Lagerstroemia indica), should it look like this?:

Region of interest for me.

1 PhotoFlow lens corrections, no-clip linear float. 2 gmic filter pixels, closeup crop, noise, 2 curves, guided smooth, LoG sharpen, resize, LoG sharpen. Zoom and enjoy!

PS Unsatisfied with this take. Processed it in the middle of improving my gmic filters; will release a v2 once they are done.

I played a bit with filmic and whitebalance in Darktable. The color temperature is a bit too cold without correction. Also did a bit with the saturation.

Good tip with the white balance, I bumped it up about 500K
