2 shots i made yesterday, just after sunrise. I think others are more capable to get more out of these.

A lot of my âseriousâ images are from morning walkabouts, so I am enamored with getting what I can from shots into the sunrise. Yours are wonderful images; I chose the first one to play with:
The processing chain:
Saved to JPEG with a conversion to sRGB/2.2, my standard export for web-destined images.
A really beautiful capture; thanks for sharingâŠ

Hereâs the second image as a rawproc screenshot, same tool chain as the first except I replaced tone:filmic with a curve:
The toe on the left pulls the darkest shadows down, similar to filmic. The rest is just me putting contrast (the steepest part of the curve) where I wanted to accentuate the foreground flowers. The top part is just control, a gradual slope to the top. Note the shape of the curve, not the control points; theyâll be different in your softwareâŠ
I hope this sort of post doesnât mangle the intent behind PlayRaw; I just feel compelled to describe what and whyâŠ
Two very nice images @andabata!
RawTherapee plus a 50% blend of âIllustrative lookâ GâMIC filter:

Wow! I love this photo. I tried to make it more dreamy.
While working with the raw, the image became more interesting. So many highlights appeared as i walked through my process.
One great improvement was putting a soften effect on the fog which added some dream-like atmosphere in opposite to the strong colors and contrasts in the foreground.
In the lower left side pink is the dominant color, in the lower right it is green. The background has got weaker colors.
It looks like the sun is giving the pink color to the left side while the tree gives the green to the right side.
My attempt with the first image, using mostly the tone mapping tool and several curves applied locally to the top and bottom parts of the image:

Cheers,

Thanks, David. Thatâs really why I wrote my software the way I did; to âlay flatâ whatâs going on. Iâm not a great fan of abstracting stuff in software, IMHO keeps people from understanding things they need to understand.
BTW, Iâm from the Louisiana, USA, Butcher clanâŠ
I grew up in Ontario, but now live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. (Iâve never been to Louisiana, but maybe itâs time to pay a visit to my long-lost cousins ⊠)
I donât say a lot on this board, but I really like the [PlayRaw] submissions, and I always appreciate your contributions. Thanks!
