I am new to this software, so I tried out the tutorial steps. So I downloaded the example images and saved them into the needed folders.
right at the beginning I got this error message:

could someone help me to handle this problem? any suggestions for a solution? thank in advance

Can you confirm this is version 0.99.8.1 or newer?
yes i am using 0.99.8.1 with mac OS Big Sur.
That would be better to output logs in english. You can change the language in preferences.

oh sorry - what do you mean? (i am a beginner - sorry)
which file should i try to open? if i open e.g. the bias_00001.fit file - gimp tells me that there is no representable picture.
same with bias_00015.fit. “contains no picture…”
I was thinking opening with Siril

same error messages with siril. cant open the file…
there should be enough memory (2 TB free space)…i will check the read/write permission. brb
MacOS has some special cases in memory management.
You can check disk space at the top of Siril.

i think i need to format the external disk…maybe u r right with your hyopthesis (read/write permissions).

Yeeees! Its working - you were right.
the formatting exFat was wrong - i changed it to Mac extended (journaled). now its working. thank you very much for this fast solution!
