Final share from this round.
DT export (same as above) through Upscayl Remacri 1x
Vignette sky is a mess, so be it.
I’ve uploaded 6 other Upscayl models for comparison to https://photos.app.goo.gl/wfQrTAiF3R9jYage9 FYI.

I don’t make much use of them for the shots I normally take but I think most people prefer a drawn mask and exposure in place of using the vignette module in DT…you could try that and then mess visually with the feather on the mask and maybe get something you are a bit happier with…
Yes - I’m looking at the techniques from the entries above, exposure masking being one of them. Parametric mask for local contrast led me to tutorials on both.
Next b&w conversion attempt is with @garibaldi 's dramatic Sigmoid method - Darktable Fundamentals and Creative Effects - #21 by garibaldi
Boris has a 2 or 3 part series as well on some creative BW conversions so that might be worth watching…
she’s seeing the light again and the whole scene is much better balanced thanks
homework! (from .xmp above)
I love to play
thanks - for that group crop I agree that vertical rotation to align with backround building isn’t necessary and she’ll get to keep her index finger within the frame
and blue shirt guy seems to blend in better underneath the blue part of the fan now
if/when I revisit in color I’ll get rid of the pole once more and do prefer face & torso exposure on Happy and overall tone choices from
and Popanz (without blue cast in background)
retouch_pole_black_dot_IMGP2775.DNG.xmp (11.8 KB) added with the pole and black naval dot removed, no other modules edited.
As used in #40 (pole only), not that clean, works OK on a burned out sky.
Pole is also retouched in #45 by @dqpcoxeas with censorize mask blurring out anything but Jubilant Stretch.
Black dot removed by @Popanz #13.
YES, the bold approach, taking those colors to my face
Palette gives instant movie vibes, or series, where they don’t hold back when grading
Good call on the pole.
I mixed up the various xmp files and got the black dot back on guy to the right
selective copy of history stack caused some confusion as did append mode for load sidecar file
Load side car is always replace I believe regardless of the setting used for pasting…
sharp, all of them more than ever, colors doing fine, thanks
are those LUTs available somewhere close by?
