Now this works just fine i Lighttable, but the same shortcut is not active in Darkroom. I can set another shortcut there (using different key combo), but that would be odd because it’s the same module and same function.
I guess it has something to do with the “in active view” which is indeed Lighttable. If I switch to Darkroom and open Preferences I get this:
Now it says “in other views”, which i suppose means in Lighttable.
So I tried using “visual shortcut mapping” mode - which is neat - in Darkroom, to set the same shortcut for same module there, but then it’s deletes the already existing shortcut in Lighttable. EDIT: Should probably add, that if I press the shortcut in Darkroom it says “alt-q not assigned”.
Maybe I’m missing something obvious here but how do I make the shortcut work for the same module in both Lighttable and Darkroom?
I think (didn’t check the code though) global shortcuts for utility modules is not a feature yet even though - iirc - the ability to show/hide utility modules in both lighttable and darkroom have been introduced lately with 5.0. Someone shall correct me otherwise.
It’s there at the top (by default I think) so is it odd I would want to access it by a keyboard shortcut?
In Darkroom if I find an image not quite what I expected I often expand filters to have a look at other versions i’ve initially rated with a star less. But then I do use the filmstrip a lot. If you don’t I can understand why it wouldn’t make sense.
Regardless of the intended use case i think, that global shortcuts for utility modules in general would be useful and contribute to consistent behaviour accross the applikation.
So this might be worth a feature request.
It’s actually odd, because if you use “visual shortcut mapping”-mode in Darkroom, you can assign a shortcut to the ratings utility module, but the shortcut only works in Lighttable (it is assigned to “in other views”), even though the module is present in Darkroom.
This is no big matter, fortunately you can cycle through the ratings with a mouse scroll wheel. Which is very nice.
