I recently updated to 5.4.1 and am having trouble trying to apply color labels to images.
In the light-table view, I select an image to label and then press F1 (for example). I would expect that the little red dot (in this case) would toggle on. It does not always do so!
Sometimes pressing the function key multiple times does nothing. Sometimes selecting another image first and then going back to the original allows the color label to be toggled (but not consistently).
I think I’ve verified that it is not simply a display problem. Hitting F1 on an image that fails to display the color ‘dot’ then results in that image NOT being included when selecting all red color labels in the current folder.
Has anyone else seen this? It sounds like a bug to me.
(It has been a few months might have tried color labels earlier, so I don’t know when this issue first appeared)
If you select an image, then move your mouse over a different image, and have prefer hovered image enabled in the preferences, then the label will be applied to the hovered image and not the selected image.
I do have ‘prefer hovered images’ selected. No other image got labeled when I attempted it.
Yes, my mouse was on top of the image. In fact, I clicked on the image to select it before toggling the color label and nothing happened.
Curiously, later in the day I went back to labeling images and it worked perfectly! Note that I had left Darktable running between sessions. As a test, I just closed and re-opened Darktable and the problem has returned!
Oh my gosh I have nothing to add to this topic (haven’t experienced this issue) but I had no idea “prioritize hovered image” is what I’ve been looking to disable all this time… No more accidentally rating the wrong images!
That feature(act on hover) is controversial. Some love it because it can speed things up while other hate rejecting the wrong image. I’m glad we added the ability to disable the act of hover.
I think something may be wrong with the relevant code right now. I exported the wrong image from lighttable and reproduced the problem around ten times. It was always the same wrong image that was exported, so I think it was cached as the hovered image, even though no image was hovered (as the mouse was over the export module). I don’t think I could reproduce it anymore after restarting the application. DT 5.4 on Windows.
select one or more images and hover on some other image, hovered image is affected.
select one or more images and don’t hover (move the mouse away from the thumbnails) and selected image(s) is affected.
