Problem with defringe

Since I have uploaded the raw file for another thread I am here with a question.

The file is here: http://www.fsoft.it/temp/P1200070.RW2

It is a barren apple tree with apples and naked branches against the sky.
The tree branches in the upper right corner are rendered blue and this is wrong.

I used the Defringe tool with the curve edited to handle blues instead of purple.
It worked, but now the smaller red apples have a large red shadow around them.

I have twisted the defringe parameters until this problem is reduced, but I was not able to fix it.
Does anybody have a suggestion for resolving this problem?

Thanks in advance

Please provide your .pp3 file

Looks more like chromatic aberration to me. On the Raw tab select Chromatic Aberration Correction and check the Auto-correction box. This is one of those cases where you might also benefit from unchecking the avoid colour shit box. After that you might also want to fine tune the settings on the Transform tab.

Here is the .pp3 file:

It makes reference to a custom color profile. If you need it you can download it from:

Thank you

This is the most neutral rendering I’ve been able to get:

But I think with such amount of aberrations, you’ll probably have to choose what is most important in the shot: either the apples not having a red halo, or the branches not having fringes (look at the top left branches).

Thank you for your help. I will copy your defringe settings.

I have already tried what you suggest, but nothing changed the situation in a substantial way.
Thank you.

 Glad it helped.

But note that the White Balance is different, too: I have picked a spot in one of the biggest branches, where it seems the bark has a neutral color (gray).

If you leave the original white balance, then the defringe curve won’t be good for the fringes of the image. You will have to edit it and the radius, too.
