Problems after I installed MS OneDrive

When I installed OneDrive, “Pictures” was exchanged with “OneDrive\Bilder” in the photo file path string. Now Darktable does not find the photos. How can I tell (teach) DT to find the photos in the modified file structure?

You can find instructions here: darktable 4.3 (dev) user manual - collections

We use one drive at work, and IMHO itnis a gigantic turd. It locks files while it slowly syncs, destroys git repos, and generally tries to force its way into everything. Godspeed.

One known side-effect of this: unable to embed metadata into freshly exported images.

I should check this… Though I sometimes forget I often pause it while working… let it sync later… I wonder if doing that would also avoid that issue I should look. I have used jpg as sidecars often with no issue so maybe??? Or maybe that is not the same way to make an observation about the thing you are referring to specifically

This is a common problem for me with DT and Adobe’s Lightroom that folders of pictures get lost. The solution with DT is very easy and I quote the user guide " 1. Right-click on the folder or film roll name, select “search filmroll…”, and then select the new location of the folder." The solution works a treat.

Tank you all for your advice and comments. My life is easier now. :slightly_smiling_face:
