Problems with RAW Files by Fuji x E2 / Firmware 4.0
I can try to play translator.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dhor/myway
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rawtherapee-unstable

Entscheide also ob du damit leben kannst/willst.

Also an der Hardware kanns kaum liegen.

Hallo, Robert!

Your English is better than my German!

a) What version of Ubuntu do you use?
Write these commands in a terminal window:
uname -a (enter), then
lsb_release -a (enter).

b) Where on the Web can I find an RAF-file
from an X-E2 with firmware 4.0?

Claes

So here are some information about my system and answers for the questions.

uname -a:
Linux Nibiri 3.19.0-56-generic #62~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 11 11:03:15 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

lsb_release -a:
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
Release: 14.04
Codename: trusty

the second question:
“Where on the Web can I find an RAF-file
from an X-E2 with firmware 4.0?”
hmm - i don’t know in the moment, i will check in some forums and when i have
an answer, i will tell or communicate.

so thank you for the moment - i will be back when i have a webadress…

Or upload one yourself.
See what Jonas wrote (above) about www.filebin.net

Okay, here is the link to a picture, made it with camera Fuji X-E2 and Firmware 4.0:

Danke! I will take a look…

Moin, Robert!

Rüdesheim?
I have tested with four raw developers:

Ubuntu 15.10
Darktable 2.0.3: Failed to read camera white balance.
Darktable 2.0.3 works OK!
Lightzone 4.1.5: Invalid image file.
RT 4.2.784: works OK!

Win 7 64 bit
RT 4.2.905: works OK!

Claes

(Correction 160403 after having re-installed darktable 2.0.3.)

@Nibiri1
After more tests:

Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
RT daily unstable: crash! seg fault.

That was depressing :frowning:
Das war deprimierend! :frowning2:

the problem might not be RT but a library used by it. and Ubuntu 15.10 has the fix. 14.04 should be end of life soon anyway so maybe upgrade to 16.04 when it comes out

@darix I agree.
@Morgan_Hardwood My experiments were not intended as an RT bug chase, but solely an attempt to get Robert up and running.

Success!

Now I have managed to open X-E2/fw 4.0 rawfiles on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS as well, which hopefully will make Robert happy.

Here is what I did:

Ref Linux - RawPedia

Update and install build-essential cmake and so on, according to the reference above.

Follow the instructions (from the same reference) under the heading Compiling: The Manual Way

When it is time to choose a branch, select master.

“Now you are ready to compile…”

I got an error message, saying that we need GCC v 4.9 or higher.
The solution is described here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/466651/how-do-i-use-the-latest-gcc-on-ubuntu-14-04 (see the answer that has got 49 likes).

Restart the computer and compile again.

Everything worked just fine. I started the version (4.2.784) of RT that I had just compiled, opened Robert’s photo – and RT handled it the way it should.

I cant reproduce it here. darktable 2.0.3 works just fine with the file. (tested in openSUSE Tumbleweed 20160331).

this might be related to an old libexiv or other libraries used by DT on your ubuntu version.

I re-installed darktable 2.0.3.
You are right: dt works just fine with the file.
I have added this fact to my original “report”.

@ Claes - thank you very much for your great work and helping advice.
So, the point is, i’m a normal and simple computer user and what i have to do, that the problem is solved, is to “high” in technique transfomation for me.

I decided, i will better wait for the next upgrade of Ubuntu and then i hope, the problem dissolved allone.

Thanks to all Helpers!

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is coming out in three weeks, on the 21st of April 2016. Once you upgrade your Ubuntu, upgrading RawTherapee and darktable will be easily possible.

@Morgan_Hardwood
Please add libcanberra-gtk3-dev to the dependencies for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
