Processing RAW with RawTherapee, then what?

I started using RT to process the RAW. Then I find that “all” features are in there; cropping, colour correction, sharpening etc. Can I complete my editing in RT or should I continue in another software like GIMP? If so, what should I use each soft for?
Thanks!

RT has certainly all the features needed to fully process a raw image into a nice, final picture.

The only reason I would use GIMP after using a raw processor such as RT is if I wanted to do a bit of graphic design, such as adding text or a decorative frame. Also, there is G’MIC (which is also available as a GIMP plugin), which has tons of creative processing filters not available in raw processors.

GIMP is useful if you want to do a lot of cloning or other retouching, or a lot of pixel precise local editing.

When I used RT a few years ago I would often do two edits of the same scene and then go to GIMP to blend the images using layers and masks. For example, I might want a darker sky in a landscape compared to a brighter foreground and GIMP facilitated this localised adjustments.

I have now switched to darktable where I can do localised adjustments very easily and rarely use GIMP at all now. But I believe RT and certainly ART, which is a RT fork have improved their localised adjustments since I last used RT. So RT should be the complete package for most edits.
