I’m currently sitting in my car at the Rally of Canberra service park. Up to 50mm of rain has fallen last night and this morning… the morning round was cancelled first thing.
Now waiting on a call on whether the afternoon run will be pulled as well.
The issues are multiple - possible road damage, insufficient access for emergency vehicles in the event of an accident, and general safety concerns. The rain is forecast to stop soon-ish, so there’s still some hope!
So I thought I’d post a Play Raw while I wait
Bit boring, but nice colour contrast possibilities. DSC_8822.NEF (22.0 MB) DSC_8822.NEF.xmp (11.8 KB)
Applying my newly learned rgb-curve-skills
Also the orange jacket bothered me a bit, so I shifted colour to unify them. I was surprised that this is actually possible with a single instance of rgb primaries without masking.
Here is my take. A film simulation of Fuji Provia100f positive film.
Whitebalance moved to 5000k to be more similar to the daylight analog film.
Used darktable only to obtain a linear light export. Then I used Python scripts using Kodak datasheet curves for the actual sim.
Thank you for the play. Edit with ART (multiple times tetrahsl.ctl), GIMP (lots of masking and layer work) and G’MIC (some additional color changes with “Customize CLUT”):
