I don’t want to use bluetooth headphones. I use wired headphones with a lightning adapter with my iPhone SE3.
The Apple ones are crap and always break after a few months but the third party ones are even worse. Now Apple have discontinued their lightning adapter “because they’re switching their phones to usb-c”.
Yeah, thanks Apple I’ll just bin the phone that I plan to use for another 3-5 years and give you a grand for fun.
So I wondered does anyone have a decent recommendation for a third party 3.5mm to lightning adapter?
Otherwise, for future reference, does anyone know are USB-C to 3.5mm adapters more robust than the crappy lightning ones?
Yeah they are, especially if you go third party. I believe apple uses that flimsily rubberish cable on purpose, so people have to buy more adapters…
There are very good USB-C to 3.5mm adapters that measure as good as top of the line DACs did not even 10 years ago. Recommendations are the Fiio ka11, jcally jm6 or jm20, for something more expensive you have the TANCHJIM Stargate, etc.
Since IEMs are very popular nowadays, the world of adapters has progressed quite quickly in the last 3 years or so.
Thanks. That does look interesting for when I get a phone with usb-c. I have wondered about a wireless audio dongle with my current phone but with Apple killing lightning, I don’t want to invest in accessories for it.
Totally agree. Ending Apple’s proprietary lock-in is a good thing. Just that they stopped producing the only half decent 3.5mm to lightning adapter while phones that they still support are being used by customers.
I love Sennheiser and have HD600s and IE200 myself, planning on buying HD800S one day. But after buying their Momentum 3, and not even 3-4 years later not being able to buy official pads for them doesn’t sit right with me. Not buying another wireless Sennheiser product.
Third party pads for ANC headphones just never work as good as the official ones and they just threw the product in the bin, especially since the original pads are not that tough. Just an e-waste generator.
