Sometimes you just gotta unwind.
Feel free to just spout random thoughts or share something from your day.
I stopped at a local thrift store after work today and managed to find about 200 sheets of Canon and Epson 8x11 photo paper, plus an old selenium light meter.
Since I started photography I’ve been finding all sorts of deals on gear and accessories.
I’ve found punching .22 calibre holes in paper targets (at the range) with my Ruger Mark II Government Target Model is lots of fun and is rapidly becoming addictive.
I wish the range was open more than just four days a week. I wish infinitely more I lived on sufficient property out in the country (instead of in this overcrowded sardine-packed *&$^%! neighborhood) so I could practice on my property instead of driving 20 miles to the range (there are other reasons as well).
I’ve had a pretty rough day. I’m over 70 years old and I had to have my two lower wisdom teeth extracted. My upper ones were extracted in the early 70s. To make things worse, I could not undergo anesthesia due to a neurological disease, so I was aware the whole time.
Ouch Tim…sorry to hear that it must have been very uncomfortable… I hope that it heals quickly…and maybe they were able to give you at least something post op for pain… get well soon…
@Tim sorry to hear that. I put in about 50 hours of dentist/endodontist/periodontist chair time last year, with almost no pain. But I still remember the pain from my wisdom teeth extraction almost 50 years ago. I hope you are at least allowed pain killers.
@lphilpot it’s still shooting, even if it’s not a camera, eh?
As for myself, I resisted buying a lens that was on sale since the Black Friday sales, and praised myself for overcoming GAS. But tomorrow, I am going to cave on that lens and another one because our Canadian dollar is poised to sag, because the Grifter in Chief wants to impose a 25% tariff on everything from Canada. Sigh.
I saw a post today with a link to a Canadian site with international shipping, citing th e weak Canadian dollar and exchange rate as.offering a discount for Americans.
Here in Portugal unless it’s a very risky case, it is usually done without any general anesthesia. This is not to diminish your efforts, It’s quite a traumatic procedure and IMO we are behind the US when it comes to this. I have two impacted ones that so far have not give me trouble, but I know it’s a ticking time bomb and I dread the day it blows up Wishing you a quick recovery and no further problems
wisdom tooth extracted last year. It had been supporting one end of a bridge too, and was totally broken off so it had to dug out.
Local anaesthesia was total. No pain. But hey, it was absolutely a traumatic experience! Hope you heal up soon. I now have two nice bits of titanium supporting a nice new bridge
My wisdom teeth (all three of 'em!) were extracted when I was 44. Fully erupted with no issues of their own, but my teeth were so tightly packed together as a result that I was getting cavities on my molars because I couldn’t keep everything clean enough. So out they came. General anesthesia with plenty of Demerol injected into my mouth, followed by a prescription of Demerol caplets for later. I took one and it turned me into Tim Conway’s old man…
Slurred speech, slow response and a shuffling walk. But man. oh man – I was feeling no pain!!
After a few days and no subsequent pain, the rest went down the toilet.
Yep! And I’m more accurate with the 22 than with my 9mm, which isn’t saying too much. LOL 22 ammo is 1/2 the cost (or less) of 9mm range ammo (never mind anything else). But I need to practice with the 9mm nonetheless. Good thing it’s not a 380 or 45! All about supply and demand.
