Found this 3200 MPx camera with a 1,5m diameter lens

I can imagine the average review:

  1. no IBIS or EVF
  2. AF does not have an AI-based tracking mode for cars and trains
  3. lens selection is very limited
  4. for the price it could be a Leica

I agree but I find that really sad. I do care about authenticity and I want to support genuine skill and art rather than low-effort shortcuts to gain money/likes.

I remember reading about that being built. I wonder if that guy is taking a 32,000Mpx selfie. Somehow I suspect that the minimum focus distance might be a little bit further than that!

Might be an understatement, idk

Also, you added one too many zeros

Have you ever had ā€˜one of those days?’ Because I’ve just had an absolute belter.

I’ve just come back from an outdoor event I’ve been looking forward to photographing all year. Everything that could go wrong did:

  1. I set all my gear up for a bright sunny day, but it rained as soon as I started (and stopped as soon as I finished) — I now hate the weatherman (mate, you had ONE job!)
  2. I dressed for a bright sunny day, and I had to walk around like a toddler with a full nappy because my shoes thought they were ice skates on the slippery-when-wet paving tiles — I now hate my local council
  3. My sciatica ramped up from a 3 on the pain scale to a 7, despite being assured that excersise would make it better — I now hate my doctor
  4. I walked an extra three miles in absolute soaking wet agony because the sign on the bus stop said the busses were diverted to a different route, and by the time I got there the diversion was lifted and I had to walk back again – I now hate my local bus company
  5. When I eventually DID get home, I somehow managed to delete two thirds of my photos; probably just as well as the ones I did get to see were awful because… well… of course they were (see 1 - 4} — I now hate everyone and everything

How was YOUR day?

@martbetz … my condolences on your absolute belter of a day. #5 is probably the most long-term annoying, assuming your sciatica has reduced again somewhat. Then again, nerve pain, once you have it, will always crop up again, and usually just when it is most inconvenient. I hope you have access to helpful short-term relief in the form of strong analgesia. Some nerve pain responds to preganalin -https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pregabalin but I haven’t used it myself.
I have had some luck with CT-guided injections, and am presently waiting for another round.
Your mileage may vary.
Hope you have some photos you can eventual be happy with and / or share.

If you still have the card, try Digital Picture and File Recovery

You may want to dump the card to a disk image file, and work from that, although the tool will not modify the card (just read it, either directly, or from the disk image). The salvaged files are written to a directory on your hard disk.

Bummer.

(as we used to say)

Especially the bus diversion. And the lost pics. And the weather. and the sciatica … … …
