I posted a shot from my Galaxy A16 at the “charge your battery…” thread that I watched the camera mung in real time. The preview and initial image showed a blown background; moments after capture that image was replaced with one that showed a nicely exposed background. I have auto-HDR turned on, which is the likely culprit; for my family/travel snaps, I think I’m just going to let it do its thing.

Yep, seen that happen often, as well. For a phone snap, I don’t mind.
Fixed it for you. Hopefully, by then, I will have the resources to do the trip.
I’m already in “pro” mode to get the raw option. Anyway, I don’t think my phone (Fairphone 3) does any sophisticated computational stuff either case.
The jpegs of the default camera app are pretty bad (seriously, I can’t imagine that anyone likes its hilariously oversaturation), so I anyway switched to other apps in the meantime. It only affects older images, which I didn’t upload to my PC until now.
