RAW data is loaded in extremely low quality

I use MacbookAir M1(MacOS 15.2). When I imported the RAW data, it was loaded at a very low quality. I don’t know how to adjust the settings to fix this. Alternatively, could this be a bug?

Hmmm, you apply +1.66 EV exposure correction and use no tone curve.
Better try the default profile with automatic tone curve as a start.
And no, this is not a bug

… and welcome to this forum! You might post your pp3 file so we might be able to see what goes wrong

I understand that it’s more about the resolution?

OP better specifies what “low quality” is. Also which RT version and camera. There also seems to be some scaling involved. Maybe this causes problems.

I think you are right. Unfortunately nothing regarding sharpening etc can be seen from the screenshot.

@Slate maybe your first contribution to PlayRaw?

Thank you for your reply! I apologize for my unclear expression (my native language is not English). Also, I will add the missing information.

Camera: Sony a6400
RT ver. : 5.11

As you mentioned, this is a resolution issue. To give an example, it’s like the quality of an extremely small JPG downloaded from the internet. I made a slight exposure adjustment, but this was mainly to make the resolution issue of the originally dark raw data more apparent.

The screenshot I uploaded first was unclear, so I recreated it on Google Photos. Please refer to this one.

Hello, might be a profile question (pp3). What happens when you open a photo and then choose upper right under profiles - bundled profiles, then Auto-matched low iso?

Thank you for your reply.
I tried that, but it had no effect.

Just for testing, how do things look if you deactivate any scaling systemwise?

OK. Perhaps a Mac problem? Can you upload a raw photo here to try on other platforms?

How does the processed jpeg look like? Does it show better resolution?

I haven’t changed any display scaling settings, so I think it should be fine.

(It’s Japanese and “デフォルト” is “default”)

The processed images were of the same high quality as the Windows version of RT. Therefore, it can be concluded that there are no issues with the raw data or pp3 files.
This may be a compatibility issue between Mac and RT.

Hm, I’m not familiar with Mac stuff. Your rt gui just looks like some scaling was going on. However, A6400 raws look fine on my system.

And this is, why I’m asking for scaling…

… on a 4k screen, no scaling:

4k screen with scaling to 225%:

100% crop, no scaling:

100% crop, scaling 225%:

See how unsharp the scaled view is. Also rt’s preview doesn’t consider the scaling and the 1:1 view is respectively blown up by 2.25.

The editor preview is not HiDPI-ready (see Photo preview 1:1 is 200% under Wayland at 150% OS display scale · Issue #6712 · Beep6581/RawTherapee · GitHub). Try changing your system display settings.
