RAW EXIF tag editing Anamorphic de-squeeze:

could the following be achieved directly within a RAW file workflow only?

apply a custom aspect ratio to Fujifilm .RAF RAW images (or any other RAW images) made with an anamorphic lens and applied to a specific aspect ratio de-squeeze (1.33X or 1.5X) on the horizontal axis. that will also be applied to any embedded preview images.

once the files have the proper aspect ratio / altered image size display metadata Capture One Pro will be used to process and export the final deliverables.

I am on MACOS Ventura.

the final lens choice is still TBD so a sample image is not available as of now. however, a RAW photo of a horizontally squished ellipse would suffice if a new aspect is “forced” and it displays the altered aspect ratio which now would be a circle.

I am capable of following your suggestions and instructions and asking for help if I’m stuck.

BTW: I posted a similar question in the Libraw forum before I found this forum.

thank you

Hey, welcome to the forum.

I would absolutely not recommend editing the metadata of your raw file. Find an editor that has the features you want and do the desaueeze there. Raw files are artifacts from your capture process and altering them can lead to unexpected results down the line.

If capture one can desqueeze, then you should do it there, but capture one is pretty off topic here.

If you were using darktable, you could do the desqueeze in the lens correction module, and you could make a preset so that it automatically applies.
