RAW image resolution size, BUG?

When I open a NEF RAW, RawTherapee sets the resolution size to 6008x4008, while all others programs go for 6000x4000, which is also the size of the non-RAW JPEG. Bug or something else?

Demosaicing a raw file is difficult at the edges of an image so many programs crop off the edges. Raw therapee doesn’t. If I remember correctly, it uses a slightly different method to demosaic the edges.

Usefull raw size is usually larger than the official. In camera conversion crops to their desired (official) size, many raw converters do the same … RT choose to use the full usefull size and only crops 4 pixel borders around … this 4 pixels borders are cropped because of difficalties in demosaic.

Thanks for the answers guys!

So in theory, when cropping to 6000x4000 from the center, the image should be the same as most other RAW processing software shows. I’ll see.

It’s not necessarily centered.
