My yearly task to create at least one still-life image in “the days between” as we say here.
Not really like I envisioned it but hopefully you can unfold your full arsenal of tools on this image and turn it something special. I wish there was a function that the camera keeps making images in the quickest possible succession (Fuji X-S10) other than the Interval Thing (which is capped at 1s) without having me to push the trigger button.
A lovely capture to play with. I wanted to bring up the steam and the teapot more than the OP, so I used a second instance of exposure with a gradient. I also love the way AgX tone maps the whites and the blacks with a single click of auto tune levels. DT 5.4.
BTW, it looks like noise in the steam but I don’t feel it is and even if it is who cares. It gives texture to the steam. 20251228-1745-8503.raf.xmp (12.4 KB)
@Popanz@Terry I really like your developments of this image. They have motivated me to make another proposal before analysing your sidecar xmp files, which I will do later today.
It’s a great exercise for discovering the power of AGX and the possibility of fine-tuning and selectively adjusting the contrast.
Here is my proposal. I tried to give it a slightly reddish and dark atmosphere, a late evening vibe, a cup of tea before hitting the road.
Fun image! The smoke does look like a face. Also the whole image white balance from the Color Calibration module had me thinking “Purple Haze” by Jimi Hendrix.
