I’ve spent some time trying to update RawPedia Hugo. It’s a significant undertaking because the data format is different, particularly regarding the handling of images (included in headings), widgets, and links.
I think the English version is now usable. Admittedly, not all comments were updated simultaneously. But I believe it’s by far the most polished version available today.
There’s still a lot to do.
Check that it works… not easy, the work involved was significant.
Then create versions in each language (how?).
Then add all the sections that are in the ‘issues’.
etc.
The ability to make pull requests should make things easier, as they won’t happen automatically. I think I’ve made my contribution (it was a lot of work).
I think some of my “fixes” to the images’ link before Pat David get images properly implemented actually broken those images I “fixed”. I have found 3 such images in Preference. I’ll try to look at my commit history to find more and hopefully properly link those images.
If I remember well, there were several translations of RawPedia. I suppose they can be re-used?
The page “Translating RawPedia” needs an update, as it states that new translators need to contact Morgan Hardwood (Dr. Slony).
I fed the the first paragraph of the Introduction of RawPedia to a translation machine (Le Chat by Mistral, French) and asked to translate that into Dutch. Looks very good.
Lokale bewerking (Selectieve Bewerking) in RawTherapee is gebaseerd op RT-spots, die in principe vergelijkbaar zijn met het U-Point concept dat oorspronkelijk werd gebruikt in Nikon Capture NX2 en vervolgens in de Nik Collection, DxO PhotoLab en Capture NXD. RT-spots gebruiken algoritmen die specifiek voor RawTherapee zijn ontwikkeld door Jacques Desmis.
The problem is far from simple… The paragraph on translation is just the layout under ‘Hugo’, but it is likely to be of little interest…
I’m not saying that ‘everything’ works, that all the images are there - there are several hundred (thousands) - that all the links work. But at the very least, we have something.
Anyone who has the ability to create a Pull Request should be able to continuously improve it (Rawpedia Hugo).

I have just checked myself to translate, from English to Italian, with Deepl, a very short section (RawPedia - Getting Started) and the result is quite good.
In the very long past, together with other friends, I have translated from Spanish to Italian, a GIS manual (over 300 pages).
It took a LONG time to conclude it. However, as soon as we were done with this work, there was a new release with an update of this software with new features and some new GUIs.
Therefore, It was a bit frustrating because our manual was already “old” even before releasing it…
IMHO, thanks to the new technologies (back then web translators were not available…), having a very good English translation of RawPedia is enough; not to mention it is already a huge amount of work to continually update it with new versions…
RawTherapee is a very powerful software and I suppose the “public” to which it might be adressed already knows some bit of English or can use a web translator when needed…
As I wrote, this is a basic version, but it’s a start. Of course, there are some images that are incorrectly referenced, some links that don’t work, or that lead to the wrong place… In total, there are approximately 9,000 objects (images, etc.) and 926 pages in English.
We can do better together.
First, we need to make corrections to the format (images, links, paragraphs, etc.) but also to the content—for example, how to compile the files.
The best approach is to make corrections to your personal version of RawPedia and submit a pull request.
I think we need to do something similar to what darktable does for its documentation (or used to do): Keep only English source and manage the translation using a tool like weblate. Weblate will keep track of what is translated and what is not, and allows for collaboration.
Just to clarify - @paperdigits did save all of the various translations as they existed at the time we did our export.
So all of the previous language pages are still there, and the plan is to walk through and clean them up as @jdc has already been doing on many of pages (check links, image links, etc. - I won’t be doing any re-writing as I am possibly the least qualified person to try and translate something or infer meaning in another language: I already have a hard enough time in english).
I’m personally walking through all of the EN and FR pages to make sure image and links work. Once I’m done and the process appears to be working, I’ll focus on the other langs one at a time (probably DE and next?).
