RawTherapee 5.5 auto-matched tone curve very light?

On some files, the auto-matched tone returns a very bright image. Can others confirm this behavior, and if it is a bug I will file a report. The behavior is repeatable for me on certain images but never happens on others. Here is an example of what I am talking about.

DSCF3805.RAF (22.0 MB)

DSCF3805_automatched.jpg.out.pp3 (11.8 KB)

And here is the SOOC

This does look unusual…

Is that from my PP3 or did you try independently?

Both. That is the auto-matched tone curve.

Would you consider it a bug or am I missing something here?

The part of the curve that descends left-to-right is inverting the tones in that range. The only valid use of such I’ve encountered was to invert a negative.

Have a look also here: Flat-Field correction & pattern noise - #3 by ibot, it might be already fixed. Apparently there were some ‘garbage’ pixels in the Fuji RAW’s that triggered this.

I also have some problems with the X-T2 files from time to time.
