RawTherapee on two screens

I am currently working on two screens and would like to use RawTherapee on this installation (Mac Pro) However, The main screen is always placed on the left screen while My main screen is the one on the left.

I don’t find in the param a way to change that situation.

Can you help me on that point?

Could you describe the problem better?

Many thanks for your reaction Morgan,

So said, my configuration is the following:
I use a Mac Pro working with OS X El Capitan 10.11.3
The main screen is on the right and is an EIZO CG276 - This screen is defined as main screen in the Computer preferences.
The Second screen is on the left and is an EIZO CG241
I Use the main screen (on the right) to make photo corrections. Using as main photo soft: LR - Photoshop - DxO DOP.
To my experience, all soft are by definition using the main (right in my case) screen. Tools - Menu - functions, etc are displayed on the second screen (left screen in my case).
If not, this can be organized, automatically based on the system preferences, or by organizing soft windows on the screens. The system remembers the last position.

I tried both solutions, RawTherapee main screen is always started on the let screen (second screen) The preference windows is always displayed at the upper left corner of the left screen. At each new RawTherapee startup one come back to the same situation, all windows are displayed on the left screen…

I would like to know if there is a way to make RawTherapee displayed as the other soft. I mean, Main screen must be automatically displayed on the right screen and preference window also.

Thanks by advance to look at my question. I am damned sure that there is a possibility that I don’t find…

Understood.

The problem is none of us use OS X so it’s really hard making things better on a platform we don’t have and don’t use.

I opened an issue:

Anyone here know how window placement remembering works in OS X? Or have a link to the appropriate docs? @Carmelo_DrRaw perhaps?

I did a quick test: RawTherapee indeed always gets opened on the left display on my system as well, however Darktable remembers the last screen (and position within the screen), and re-opens itself in the same place where it was last closed.

There must be some system call that is used in darktable and missing in rawtherapee. Maybe some Darktable expert here can help us to clarify the issue?

Incidentally, I’d be very interested in a solution as I would like to implement the same functionality in my photoflow editor. And I’m ready to do some tests to see if things work as expected (but I do not have a dual-screen set-up available all the time).

Thanks for your answers… Hop somebody should find the solution. Otherwise, it’s very uncomfortable to use RT

Not sure if it works 100% reliable on OSX, at least fullscreen used to cause problems.

Hi,

I guess it is caused by GTK2 on OSX not handling multiscreen very well.
Here is a workaround I found.

  1. Edit ~/.config/RawTherapee4/options and set “false” for “WindowMaximized”.
  2. Goto “System Preference”->“Mission Control” and uncheck “Displays have separate Spaces”

Without #2, RT window is always opened in primary screen, but the window size and position will be restored from previous execution. As I like “separate spaces” and don’t care about secondary screen for RT work, I left #2 unchanged.

I’m using RT4.2 and OSX10.11.4.
